CREATING A CUSTOM EXERCISE

How to create a custom exercise on The Rehab Lab

Creating your own database of custom exercises on The Rehab Lab is easy. This is a useful feature because you may find that The Rehab Lab's predetermined exercise wording (title, description, parameters) differs from your preference. If you find this is the case, you can edit the exercise to suit your requirements and save the exercise to your own custom database so in the future, you can search your database and add the custom exercise to your programmes.

This speeds up the process of creating future rehabilitation programmes because you no longer have to edit the exercise details each time you use it.

To create a custom exercise, first log in to The Rehab Lab by clicking here and entering your username and password at the login screen. Once you have logged in, you will see The Rehab Lab 'EXERCISE SEARCH SCREEN' (the main screen). To create a new custom exercise, follow these steps:

1. Search for the exercise you would like to customise

Use the 'EXERCISE SEARCH' options to find the exercise you would like to customise (to learn how to search for exercises, click here).

2. Add the exercise to the programme contents column

To edit the exercise, you must first add it to the programme contents column on the right of the screen. To add the exercise to the programme contents column, click the ADD EXERCISE TO PROGRAMME button (the '+' icon), or simply drag the exercise into the programme contents column on the right of the screen.

3. EDIT THE EXERCISE

Now that you have added the exercise to the programme contents column, you can start editing the exercise to suit your needs. To edit the exercise, click the EDIT ITEM button (the 'pencil' icon) located at the top left of the blue programme contents item. This will open the EDIT EXERCISE WINDOW.

Click the 'EDIT ITEM' button

From this window, you can edit the exercise title, description, the prescribed number of sets and repetitions to perform and the exercise frequency. You may also change the categories (alter the 'BODY REGION', 'JOINT / TYPE' or 'EXERCISE TYPE') that the exercise is classed in if that will make more sense to you.

In addition, you can also add new keywords to the exercise to aid your ability to search for the exercise in the future.

NB: If you are using a multiple-user profile on The Rehab Lab you may decide to enter your name in the keywords area. So, next time you are searching for custom exercises, you can simply enter your name in the KEYWORDS input so only custom exercise you have created will be displayed.
